For all of us who were not born as a single child, we have all been through the trial times of sibling rivalry. This includes pulling of hair, pushing, yelling, and of course the tattle-telling. We love our siblings, however sometimes we can’t help but feel our lives would be a little bit easier without the constant fighting over the bathroom or front seat of the car.
It isn’t until we grow older and wiser that we have a better appreciation for our brothers and sisters. They taught us to stick up for ourselves. They helped us to grow stronger. They even teach us how to raise our own children.
Think back to all the silly things you fought over. Now recall all the times that brought you together, such as eating ice cream cones together! We can push our siblings away as much as we can, but the truth is, we are family, and families are who shape us into who we are as adults.
So when you get a chance, even if they aren’t close by, let your sisters and/or brothers know that you appreciate them (despite who always had possession over the remote control).
What do you appreciate most about your siblings?
It’s July 4th! Time to put the hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, serve up the potato salad, and lay the blanket out to watch fireworks. However, sometimes we forget what Independence Day is all about.
We get caught up in all the picnics and time off from work that we overlook the sacrifices made to have the freedom to do the things we take for granted. Freedom is not free, so we should always thank those who paid the cost.
Whether it’s someone who has already served or is currently serving our country, this is for you! Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. We are eternally grateful that you dedicate your lives so that we may continue to live freely in this great country.
Who would you like to thank for their service?

Every year we celebrate the women who put their own needs aside to take care of others. The women who are our chauffeurs (sorry, mom!), chefs, cleaners, tutors, shopping partners, and best friends. That’s right, we are talking about moms!
Our question is, why wait till Mother’s Day to celebrate these strong, sacrificing women? They show love, care, and compassion towards us every day. We should return the favor with love, care, and respect just as often.
Think back to a moment when you were having a hard time and all you wanted was your mom. The natural comfort that comes from a mother is the best cure for the blues. For every hug, or rub on the back, it’s like a transfer of love and support that makes everything right with the world.
Now think about a time where your mom did something to help you. You may not have appreciated it, or noticed it at the time, but you do now. Maybe she made you eat your vegetables, or didn’t allow you to get that Bugs Bunny tattoo. Mother’s are always there sculpting us, and helping us grow. They have an uncanny gift for knowing when you’re making a mistake, or not doing what you should. It’s hard to see it in the moment, but mom’s are always there guiding and protecting you.
So if you haven’t already, make sure you show your mom how much you appreciate her this weekend, and every day. Try sending her some some flowers, taking her for an afternoon lunch, splitting a real Hershey’s® Ice Cream milkshake with her, or just giving her a big hug!
Mother’s do so much for us, it’s time to let them know how we feel. What do you love most about your mom?

There are certain rules of etiquette when enjoying the classic treat of ice cream. Different rules apply to different people such as no double dipping when sharing out of the same bowl or only put so much on your spoon that you can fit in your mouth. However, we have compiled a top 10 list of our own that should probably be applied to everyone. Again, to each his own, but these are pretty common across the board.
1. When in a dish, use a spoon. If you want to lick up the ice cream, you should have probably gotten a cone…or at least a bib.
2. Sharing a bowl? OK. Sharing a cone? Probably OK. Licking the cone at the same time with someone – Not OK.
3. If you can’t finish your bowl or cone, don’t throw it away. There are sweets deprived people in this world that will lick that bowl clean.
4. The ice cream to toppings ratio should always fall heavier on the ice cream side. The Dipper should never ask you if you’d like a little ice cream to go with your toppings.
5. Know what flavor you want before you get up to the line at an ice cream parlor. When it comes to ice cream, people get impatient and the scene could turn ugly.
6. When eating a cone, do not bite off the bottom of the cone first. First, you look ridiculous trying to bend your head that way, and second you are destroying the purpose of the cone.
7. No double fisting. Just order a large for here and one to go.
8. Try new flavors. Sure, Cicada ice cream might be a stretch… But you can’t go wrong with a new flavor, like Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler or Frosted Cupcake.
9. If drinking a shake and you get brain freeze, try not to yell out loud like a banshee. Little kids around you might get scared.
10. Tweet what flavor you’re eating, BEFORE or AFTER you’re done eating. No one likes a sticky phone.
What else do you think should never be done while eating ice cream?
As an ice cream company, we like to believe that we provide more than just a dessert product. We want to make memories, bring people together, and create moments that last a lifetime. Here’s a submitted story by a girl who let us know we are doing just that.
“I grew up in Lewisberry, Pennsylvania. There isn’t a whole lot going on around that tiny little town. There are plenty of farms, hay fields, and horse barns. It’s a quiet town but I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up anywhere else. My memories of summer nights include bike rides and long hikes throughout the countryside. But there is one memory that I have always cherished that I wanted to share.
My summer days usually consisted of playing in the creek behind our house, swinging on the rope tied to our Oak tree, and playing “pretend” in the backyard with my neighbor friend. But I will never forget Friday nights. My whole family (Dad, Mom, Brother, and Sister) would get on our Bikes and go for a three mile trip to a little store called L.H. Gross Manorette or what we liked to call Gross’s. They always had a stocked freezer of Hershey’s® Ice Cream! Half Gallons, Pints, and all my favorite treats (including the P. Nutty which was my favorite!) We’d park our bikes and all walk in, heading directly to the (what I called) ‘pot of gold’ , the ice cream freezer. There were always so many delicious choices it usually took us a good ten minutes to all decide what we wanted. Then after checking out, we’d go to the single table outside and enjoy our summer treat. After some good laughs (sometimes laughing so hard we spit ice cream all over each other) and finishing every bite of our ice cream, we would get back on our bikes and make the three mile trip back home. It was usually pretty dark by the time we got home and time for bed. So I’d go to sleep with a smile on my face and a tummy full of delicious ice cream!
I don’t get to spend as much time with my family these days, and so that is a memory I will always cherish and keep in my heart. Thank you so much for being a part of my childhood Hershey’s® Ice Cream! Every time I bite into a P. Nutty Cone, I’m brought back to those wonderful Summer Friday nights.”

Not everyone is an animal lover, but for some their pets are part of their family. From eating at the table, to wearing designer clothes, some owners treat their pets like people!
But how far are you willing to go to show how much you love your four (or two) legged friend? Some owners give their pets the best food for their health, some share table scraps or even prepare gourmet meals, and some are happy to share everything with their pets. Such as an outing for delicious premium ice cream!
It may sound crazy, but some pet owners will do anything for their furry/scaley/feathered/finned friends! What kind of pet owner are you?
